What's Wrong With Canada?
[Media Source*] (Hat Tip: The Black Kettle, Angry in the Great White North, Captains Quarters)
Everything apparently! Ironically our northern neighbor which was once a great nation has turned ugly politically as well as spiritually as the Toronto Sun gives the political details:
A MONTREAL advertising firm that received more than $40 million in AdScam sponsorship contracts paid huge kickbacks to both the federal Liberal party and the Quebec separatists, senior executives of the company have told Sun Media. "I remember seeing the cheques," one former Groupaction executive said of payments to the federal Liberal party in Quebec.
Canada is quickly descending into a cesspool of political corruption with conservatives calling for new elections as the scandal involving the "looney left" (first broken by an American Blogger) continue to spin out of control.
But just as the political climate is in chaos it seems religion is quietly being "snuffed out."
From the Calgary Sun.com:
Even before Paul Martin's anti-marriage Bill C-38, passes, intolerance in the form of persecution for same sex-marriage non-believers is mounting: Calgary's Bishop Fred Henry has been taken to the Human Rights Commission at the same time an Anglican congregation and its clergy have been kicked out of their building in B.C. April 1 (no fooling) for sticking to scriptural tenets on one man, one woman marriage.
Also in B.C., the Knights of Columbus, a Catholic men's organization known for charity and community work has been taken to the Human Rights Commission for not renting their hall to a lesbian marriage reception.
Hundreds of marriage commissioners have already resigned. And in Saskatchewan, marriage commissioners, be they pastors or secular, have already been warned they will be forced to marry same sex couples -- or resign.
Perhaps Canada should change their name from "The Great White North" to the "United Socialistic States of Canada." Last I checked freedom of religion was something guaranteed in Canada (at least these guys say so) and now a days it seems being "faith friendly" is the lowest priority on Canada's list (which is a shame because it was a Canadian that introduced me to the world of blogging too).
I think I'll take off Canada as a future trip of mine and replace it with Iraq (a country familiar with oppression of religion). If Canada wants to be a successful (and vibrant) nation in the future they might as well begin to clear out the corruption within their own politics as well as faith--because if not they may soon join other failed socialistic states (from Europe) and America will soon find itself in the position not only the world's policeman, but also it's only beacon for freedom in Western Civilization as well.
