Modem Friendly Blogs (Speed Test)

After contemplating taking off some images on my blog site (as it may seem "heavy") I decided to test the "speed" or how fast the site can be viewed by slow and fast modems (slow modems will probably complain more). I compared my blog site to those such as Instapundit, Michelle Malkin, Captains Quarters, etc. to see where my blog site ranked in the "scheme of things." Here is how I did:

I also did several of the above bloggers (and many more) and found out that Yahoo's Blog was the most "modem friendly," quickly followed by the Google's Blog, Microsoft's Blog and Hugh Hewitt. After looking at several of the other bloggers I have found that my blog isn't so "heavy" after all. Here are their results.

And if you were wondering what that little asterick means, here is an explanation from the site:

*Note that these download times are based on the full connection rate for ISDN and T1 connections. Modem connections (56Kbps or less) are corrected by a packet loss factor of 0.7. All download times include delays due to round-trip latency with an average of 0.2 seconds per object. With 54 total objects for this page, that computes to a total lag time due to latency of 10.8 seconds. Note also that this download time calculation does not take into account delays due to XHTML parsing and rendering.

You can test your own blog site here. I may scale down my site in the future (in order to become more modem friendly) but until then I probably will not be adding more pictures in the near future.
