Google Earth Displaying Katrina Damage
[Media Source*] (Hat Tip: Caleb from Gmail Lounge)
(Google Earth-Katrina) The Google Earth team is working on adding imagery of the impact of Hurricane Katrina. We will be posting links to this imagery for viewing as "image overlays" in Google Earth.
Google has enabled users to view some of the damage left from hurricane Katrina. The "before and after" images allow users to examine the extent of destruction from a bird's eye view, although the images (except in certain sections) may be slightly blurry in some regions. Photo's from either users or journalists have been uploaded into Google Earth as well, and if anyone is looking for organizations to donate to, organizations such as Samaritan's Purse are highly recommended.
(Editor's Note: Google Earth images of New Orleans below).
Editor's Note: Here is an image of the New Orleans Super Dome as it appeared before it was struck by Katrina. Notice the difference below.
Editor's Note: It is almost hard to imagine a community to be devastated until one gets a bird's eye view of the area. Of coarse, nothing comes close to actually visiting New Orleans. Compare the above with the one beneath.
Editor's Note: This last set of images is a compare/contrast between Interstate 10 (on which some survivors were stranded on). This blogger's prayers are with the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
Editor's Note: If any readers are looking for places to donate, a list of charities can be found here (and you can check out the latest donation stats as well). If any readers have a blog site and are recommending charities, please add your site here.
