Finally a cure! (we hope)
[Media Source*]
Many people may remember the "killer virus" called SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) that spread around the world and hit China and Canada hard with the former having around 800 deaths and the latter 44.
Researchers in Beijing, China however have developed a vaccine that they claim works against SARS. Researchers injected 36 healthy volunteers with the vaccine starting in May and 24 had developed antibodies (see source link above).
This is a partial transcript from the CBC (see source link above):
None of the volunteers reported abnormal physical reactions.
The vaccine has passed the first phase of testing and proven to be safe, said Yin Weidong, director of the research program.
The research team has already established standards for manufacturing the vaccine, he said, although it still has to go through two phases of testing.
More than a 100 researchers have been working on finding a vaccine for more than a year in China.
Although the virus originated in China, this recent news shows that China is taking responsibility for itself, as well as the world. By providing a vaccine China is quickly becoming a major player in the international community. For more information on Sars simply click here. Selah!
