Is Annan Scared?
[Media Source*] (Hat Tip: The Black Kettle)
Kofi Annan, the beleaguered secretary-general of the United Nations, has claimed that a "lynch mob" is out to "destroy" him in the wake of the Iraq oil-for-food debacle and other UN scandals.
Really? Wouldn't you be angry too after losing billions of dollars because of incompetent leadership? Does one have to even mention the "other scandals" committed by the U.N.?
A great man (John Maxwell) once said that "everything rises and falls on leadership." Basically to sum it up leaders are responsible for the actions of those underneath them. If everything goes wrong it is the leader that is held accountable. That is often the reason that Presidents lose power (whether government or business) because their actions failed to produce the results that they either claimed they were going to achieve or were expected to by their "peers."
If the U.N. wants to seriously reform for the better (something this blogger wants to see) then it needs to replace it's leadership (that being Annan) and those immediately underneath him. The U.N. is already starting to pick up the pace with Syria. It would be sad if they came this far and failed because of continued incompetent leadership.
