Flags at half mast...
[Media Source*] President Bush has ordered that the U.S. flag to be flown at half-staff for five days in order to honor the victims of the tsunami disaster.
"The carnage is of a scale that defies comprehension," -Bush
With the death toll rising above 150,000, the world's governments have pledged about $1.9 billion towards the affected regions, nearly half of it coming from the US, India, Australia and Japan which gave $500 million.

President Bush, seeking to bolster America's humanitarian image after the Asian tsunami's, called on January 1, 2005 for flags to be flown at half-staff next week to honor victims of the disaster. A day after he raised the U.S. aid contribution to $350 million from $35 million, Bush used his weekly radio address to emphasize the need for private relief donations for devastated areas where massive waves killed at least 124,000 people and left 5 million others homeless. In this photo, an American soldier helps load a bag of foodstuff that will be donated to the tsunami survivors in Sumatra on January 1, 2005.
Although the world is criticizing the President for the relief effort (it seems he gets no rest from his advarsaries) he is doing an excellent job of leading the world in a united relief effort. Although the United Nations is jealous (source) of the role which America is now playing, the general focus is on helping the victims of the disaster. If anyone is willing and able donations can be made to these following organizations by clicking here. Selah!
