[Media Source*] A long time ago in a place not so far away the Google Blog announced the release of a fun new feature called "Google X." Approximately 24 hours later the site "vanished" (due to Apple concerns?) which promted the many fans of Google to create clones of their own.
Many forms of Google X have appeared over the internet, with some copies mimicking the original while others simply add their own signature to their version of Google X. Their are even versions of Google X in different languages.
While some designs are hosted by companies (something Google is not happy about) some Google fans have taken the liberty to improve on the overall layout of Google X by providing a host of new features. Here are some examples of some of the best (and worst) Google X clones on the net:
- The Place for it all (smooth layout)
- Elliot Back.com (mimics the original Google X)
- Shiwej (a bad version of Google X)
- James Gamble.net (an improved version of Google X)
- Jays Site.com (the best version of Google X on the net)
The last version provides a combination of Google features ranging from Gmail Notifier to Google Suggest. Although if one has dialup Jay's Site may not be exactly "modem friendly" but for those with broadband may find his site enjoyable to say the least.
